How to Improve Post-Winter Recovery in Oilseed Rape

Despite a long, wet season, winter oilseed rape is now into its stem elongation growth stage.  As temperatures have begun to warm, OSR’s leaf development comes to an end and it enters a phase of rapid growth.  This is another high stress period for the crop, with extra support often required to facilitate stem growth and combat increased risk of pest attacks.  Applying amino acids can help to reduce stress on your oilseed rape crop, and there’s one Natural Plant Protection product that could be very beneficial. ARY-AMIN.  What is ARY AMIN?  ARY-AMIN is a tailored mix of amino acids, derived from a natural vegetable source. It contains high concentrations of three key amino acids that support plant development.
  1. Glutamic acid - This is an important building block for other amino acids and the crop itself. It helps a plant develop its own pathways so it's better equipped to grow through abiotic and environmental stress.
  1. Aspartic acid - Another vital amino acid building block, a lack of aspartic acid can impact a plant’s efficient use of nutrients.
  • Proline - This increases metabolism to improve plant tolerance of environmental stresses and pest attacks like cabbage stem weevil larvae. It triggers a specific gene expression to help plants recover from (as well as tolerate) stress.
Used on oilseed rape, ARY-AMIN can boost protein production and photosynthesis, improving stem strength and reducing the risk of breakage.  The combined amino acids enable more effective nutrient uptake and distribution, which is critical at this stem elongation phase.  Based on the studies of ARY-AMIN at our Shray Hill research and development centre, and the experiences and results shared by growers, we highly recommend an application of this natural, tailored amino acid product.  Use it on your winter OSR to support stem growth and combat stress associated with larval feeding damage.  Find out more about ARY-AMIN
